Well, that was nice

The Bodacious Brit just wandered over and said, "You know, you should record extra bits when you're all on and really on a roll, so that you can splice them into the podcast when it's just you and Jerry. That way, you can maintain your consistency."

"What do you mean?"

"Well, it's just that from listening to your latest podcast, it's more like the ones you did when you were just starting out, very chatty and writery."

"And your point?"

"Well, it's gotten much zanier with Patrick and Stacy, and when they're not on that could throw off your audience."

*blink*blink* "So you're saying it's not as funny with just Jerry and me."

"Well, yes."

"..."

"Um, I'll go upstairs now, until you're not mad at me anymore."

"Yeah, you go do that."

Smack that Brit. I enjoy the "chatty and writery" shows just as much as the "zanier" ones. It provides a nice balance.

Exactly! The nice thing about our show is that it changes depending on who's on -- sometimes we're chatty, sometimes we're funny, sometimes we're a trainwreck from beginning to end!

Well, what we could do is split it into two different podcasts, one that is just a zany comedy and one that's just a light-hearted show about writing, SF & F, and creative tips, etc.

Nah, I think we're good as it stands -- sometimes we're zany, sometimes we're writerly. It's part of our charm.

I agree. We balance each other.

Jerry, don't you dare go splitting it in two shows. I like that each week is a grab bag. I don't know if I'm getting a show like this week's or a show with all four of you. I like the variety. I didn't realize how much I missed the original format until the last few Mel & Jerry shows. That's not to say I don't like the shows with all four of you. I love them. But I understand how Stacy can't be involved right now. The deep funk and depression brought on by the cancellation of Megan Wants A Millionaire and the upcoming I Love Money 3 (where murderer Ryan is the rumored winner) are enough for anyone to take to bed. Good news that might get her out of the depression... I Love Money 4 is currently filming and should be ready to air when I Love Money 3 was set to air. Bad news, though, is that Lacey from Rock of Love was on 3, but not sure if she's going to be on 4 yet.

    Walt,

At last...someone who understands me! (besides Patrick that is....and Kathy the foreign correspondent who, I have hooked on reality shows)

Oh, so THAT'S where you've been. Suddenly, much becomes clear.

I like the Melanie/Jerry shows just fine. They're different from those with Patrick and Stacy but no less entertaining. The episodes that weren't quite as good for me were a couple where you spliced together two different conversations -- Melanie/Jerry, then Melanie/Patrick/Stacy -- going back and forth to each. (I think it was because Jerry wasn't available when the rest of you recorded and you wanted to include him.) That was a little too jarring for me.
